
This is why I love protein shakes!
For those of you who have followed one of my programs, know that I am a huge fan of protein shakes. I recommend eating 3 pieces of fruit per day, but I know a lot of people don’t do this. Some of you just don’t like fruit, some of you don’t have the time, and others find it too expensive.
Unfortunately, some fresh fruits are indeed super expensive on the island, like strawberries and forest fruit. That is why I always buy these frozen. This is much cheaper, easier to preserve, at least as healthy as fresh fruit, AND it gives the shake the perfect texture. Because it transforms into a healthy milkshake.
Of course, the best way is to actually eat your fruit every day. But I also like to think practical. We are super busy these days, and many of us don’t have the time to prepare their meals. On top of that, there is literally on every street corner a food truck or fast-food restaurant to buy unhealthy foods, so temptations are high when you are hungry and on the road.
My solution for this is to prepare a protein shake, put it in a to-go cup and drink your liquid breakfast or lunch on the road. I do this on a regular basis as well. Therefore, I prepared a super tasty shake for you that you can take with you anywhere you go.
For those of you who think it won’t fill you up, haven’t tried my protein shakes yet. Trust me, this will keep you satisfied for a couple of hours. The secret; add healthy fat to your shake, like 1 tablespoon of 100% (pean)nut butter, flax/chia seeds and/or ½ avocado.
Bonus; you take in 20g of protein without eating animal products or unhealthy fat. Better for your health & the environment. ENJOY!
