My personal journey towards health

I also struggled with my weight when I was younger. As a child, I could eat everything I wanted. But as a teenager, I started to gain weight. After I started the pill, I gained almost 20 pounds. Even though I was very active. Hello hormones…

I tried everything to lose weight during that time. All types of diets, pills and very nasty drinks, like apple cider and aloe drink. However, I did not last more than 3-4 days. When I changed the type of pill I was taking, I started to lose weight again.

I found this process fascinating, so I started studying Nutrition and Dietetics. I became more conscious of what I ate. But still, my weight went up and down, and I could not control my eating habits. However, my eating pattern got a completely new dimension when I started doing CrossFit in 2016.

I adjusted my eating pattern and experimented with supplements. I really noticed what big influence my diet had on my sport performance and recovery. On top of that, I fell in love with the Mediterranean diet. I started to eat fewer carbs, much more fruit, vegetables, legumes and healthy fats. Where I used to be afraid of eating fat, I love to eat plenty of healthy fat now.

I developed a routine of a healthy eating pattern, being physically active, getting enough sleep, and doing more mediation. I am super happy with the way I look, but even more importantly, I feel fit and vital from the inside as well! This gives me a lot of peace of mind, self-confidence and happiness. I have a solid basis of a healthy lifestyle, while I am also able to still enjoy a nice cocktail or pizza in the weekend.

I trained myself to develop a positive mindset, in which I know how to deal with all sweet temptations around us. Making the healthy choice is now the easy choice for me. I am fit, vital and happy because I raised my own standard to become the best and fittest version of myself. I wish this for you too!

My vision & mission

A healthy and vital lifestyle means having a solid basis with a healthy eating pattern, plenty of exercise, enough sleep and fun. You also have to enjoy, because life is too short to deny yourself everything. This means, you should be able to eat a nice snack or drink from time to time.

My mission is to teach and inspire you, what a healthy and vital lifestyle is. I do this by translating science into practice to make nutrition science accessible for everybody!

Nutrition and Dietetics

During this bachelor study, I learned everything about the influence of diet in relation to health and disease and how to give dietary advice.

Nutrition and Health

In this masters study, I developed myself as a nutrition scientist. I learned how to do research and how to interpret research results about nutrition, health and disease.

Nutritional Epidemiology

During my Ph.D., I studied the relationship between dietary patterns and depressive symptoms as part of the MooDFOOD project. I developed myself more as a nutrition scientist and how to translate science into practice.
